History
It
is now almost nine years since the
first Siam Corner Thai Restaurant was
opened by Ms Waraporn Dale in the centre
of Derby on the site of the old Palins
Motor-Cycle stockists, followed by
further restaurants in Chesterfield
and Leicester in the same year. During
this period the Siam Corner Group of
Thai restaurants have become one of
the most popular venues amongst the
people of Derby and the East Midlands
in general.
Since starting
her first restaurant in 1998, initially
working as the head chef, whilst at the
same time being involved in establishing
her restaurant business, Ms Dale has
nurtured her passion to cook high quality
food using Thai ingredients to encourage
customers to appreciate the flavours,
authentic aromas and the culture of Thailand.
Stabilisation of Business
With the effort and attention that
she has put into creating each dish,
the restaurants have proved to be value
for money and popular destinations
throughout the area. To complement
the culinary skills of the current
Thai chefs, an excellent standard of
service is provided by the front of house staff and, where possible, each of the restaurants is decorated and fitted out with imported authentic Thai artefacts, fixtures and fittings.
The success of the group has resulted in a number of local honours including an appearance by Ms Dale on network television, demonstrating Thai cooking, winning Derbyshire Countryside's Gustator's Golden Goblet award and, more recently, a cookery demonstration on Radio Derby. The restaurant group as a whole is one of only 38 restaurants in the United Kingdom to have been awarded the Thai Select Brand by the Thai Ministry of Commerce as providing authentic Thai cuisine.
Gastronomic Project
Like many successful businessmen or
women, Ms Dales's secret for success has been innovation followed by hard waork and, just occasionally, a pause along the way to assist others in their desire to open businesses; it has always been an effort, but it has been rewarding , culminating last year in Ms Dale creating a gastronomic venue in Chesterfield, when she transformed an abandoned night club, the Adam and Eve, into a real Thai Village, which has operated extremely successfully since 28 June 2006. It has become one of the most popular venues in the region.
Future Plans
The intention is to achieve a high
level of recognition for the Siam Corner
Group. Ms Dale plans to expand the
business nationwide, including the
London area, from the present midlands
base by 2010.
Dreams
Ms Dale's strategy is always to seek
opportunities similar to her current
business which may arise in the food
and bevergae industry. She may also
investigate other opportunities outside
of her current core business interests.
this may also include branching out
into areas such as coffee shops and
food and beverages from other areas
of the world. |
